    Employees Crave Connections and Connecting

Alexis Sclamberg (Forbes) writing from a Gen Y perspective says, “…employees need good references and smart in-house networking–the kind that makes it possible for us to smoothly hop over to the next lily pad when this one gets soggy.”  Great metaphor for Gen Y’s perspective on what Milennials are looking for instead of employer loyalty and career paths.

If you want to know more about Connection, Collaboration, Community and Careers, let’s have a conversations about building peer career communities (http://www.careercollaborators.com)

Need for Workforce Planning Emerging Post Recession

According to Kennedy research, employee engagement is the near-term focus for companies emerging from the recession who fear the sustainability of recent productivity gains and the risk of increased turnover as the job market improves. They go on to forecast that demand for workforce planning will increase, primarily because the recession forced many companies to make rapid and drastic headcount reductions. With conditions recovering, companies are struggling with the timing and volume of hiring needed and defining the exact skills required.

All companies would do well to take this opportunity to take a closer look at their existing workforce.  Employees are looking for growth and advancement, and the timing may be just right to invest in the talent you have and know.

We are building peer career communities

Our blog is about careers. We want to have a dialogue about questions such as:

    • What do people think about when they think about “my career”?
    • What is career development?
    • How important are collaboration and connection to career development?
    • How can organizations support employees’ career exploration?
    • How does employee career development lead to an organization’s need for finding the right people to perform the right roles at the right time?

We are Career Collaborators® (www.careercollaborators.com) and we have lots of ideas to share with our readers. We want to engage and connect with you. Tell us what you think, and become a part of this online Career Community.
